CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
SEVEN AMENDMENTS ON THE BALLOT FOR 2012
1. COURTS: Would require Senate confirmation of Supreme Court justice and give the Legislature greater power to review court rules.
2. PROPERTY TAXES: Would expand a property-tax discount for veterans injured in combat.
3. PROPERTY TAXES: Would give first-time homebuyers a property-tax discount and lower the cap on the annual rise in assessments for non-homestead property from 10 percent to 5 percent.
4. HEALTHCARE: Would ban mandated health care, an attempt to block President Obama’s reforms.
5. TABOR: State revenue cap that uses a formula based on changes in population and inflation to limit taxes.
6. ABORTION: Ban the use of public dollars to pay for abortions.
7. FAITH BASED GROUPS: Repeals a Reconstruction-era constitutional amendment that bans using state dollars for religious purposes.
