Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Thank you for the honor of serving you in the Florida House of Representatives. As always, I appreciate your vote of confidence.
Without a doubt, it’s good to be back in House District 95 after a challenging 2013 legislative session. Each day of the nine-week session, I was reminded that Floridians remain worried about the economy, and that it is crucial that our state focus on creating jobs and improving livelihoods.
I proudly sponsored several bills and fought to protect your interests in the Legislature. Unfortunately, there was some backsliding of progress on key issues and many decisions were made without my support.
At the center of controversy was the debate over how to craft a new annual state spending plan. Just as many households are making ends meet with reduced revenue, the state of Florida had a tough task of creating a balanced budget without the federal stimulus dollars that helped us get by in recent years.
I was pleased to serve as the Ranking Member on the House Transportation and Economic Development
Appropriations Subcommittee and as Deputy Whip in the House. I also serve on the House Finance and Tax Committee, Economic Development and Tourism, Rulemaking and Regulation Subcommittees and recently, on the House Redistricting Committee.
I hope you find this legislative update to be a useful source of information on the 2013 session. If you have any questions or would like to discuss any of the issues, please call my office at 954-497-3367, or send me an email at [email protected]. As always, if there is anything that I can do to assist you, feel welcome to contact my office.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent you.
Representative Hazelle P. Rogers
